Oh what a shame so much work went in to that -poor parent birds. Did you find it on the ground and was the egg intact? The egg looks greenish - do you have a photo of it?

The nest was found in mid Portugal in long grass while strimming, and had four eggs, later three disappeared and think it may have been a snake. The egg is plain khaki coloured and half an inch long.
