A very attractive beast - they can be active (on sunny days) all year round. NB: I suspect that you've miscounted the spots, or some of them have merged - there should be sixteen (Halyzia sedecimguttata)!

Thank you for your comment Paul. I can't believe the range of your interests and knowledge (think I might have mentioned that before though).
I had to look that ladybird up and I definitely counted the spots - there were 7 aside - so when I found this site and this comment:

...................I believed it (not having anything else to go on, so to speak).
There are definitely only 14 - but I've let it go now. I wish I'd woken it up before I took the photo this morning, but I was concerned I might be containing it for too long.
