I thought there was just a hoverfly at first till I clicked on the photo, poor thing.

How well camouflaged is that spider and what big prey it takes.

Great shot.

I'm a bit surprised that such a strong flier as a hoverfly doesn't fly away carrying the spider with it - or is it anaesthetised or otherwise trapped?

definitely completely trapped moving one leg feebly. I think the spider paralyses it's prey with it's bite.

This one was hungry- it had had a bluebottle earlier.
