This was only 4mm in length. Seen 26th April in the garden on buddleia North Holland.

I don't like doing these from photrographs but the most common, small, hairy ladybird in NW Europe is Rhyzobius litura. I'm fairly convinced of this because of the length of its antenna which are at least as long as the forebody is deep.
