That's the best looking weed I've seen this year. It looks quite spectacular!
Do they grow in the shade do you know?

That's only part of it - I've just spent an hour reducing the numbers in the rockery! My attitude to annuals is that as long as they don't make big roots, they can grow anywhere they want where there's a space _ they don't cause problems and are easy to pull up when you need the space.
Yes they grow more or less anywhere - the patch in the picture is close to the NE side of the house so only gets light for a few hours each morning>

Think I'll give them a whirl then.

Quite a few years ago I planted forget-me-nots and they really hated my garden and the leaves went black.
A couple of years back I planted some butterfly attracting mixed wildflower seeds and forget-me -nots appeared, since then they have selfseeded all over the place including where I palnted them them - strange. They are almost as prolific as the red campion.

These thinbgs happen, things sit in the soil until consitions become right for germination. One flowering of any of these ruderal plants can add an enormous number of potential plants to the seed bank. I've certainly never sown a forget-me-not (nor any of the other weeds that pop up from time to time).
Anyway, the f-m-n goes quite nicely with the London Pride (Saxifraga X urbium) - another plant that would take over if allowed the chance ....
