Is this Dysdera crocata, the woodlouse spider? Doesn't look quite right to me and I know there are at least two other species in Western Europe. This was lurking on grass in sand dunes at Lochmariaquer, Bretagne, France in August 2006.

Sorry Paul - no idea what the spider is, but the grass is beautiful and so feathery and you can see the silvery strands from the web - another great image!

You would have liked the area - dolmens to the right, stone circles to the left but a large and fairly undisturbed area of sand dunes between. Mainly this grass (I know what it is but can't bring it to minds at the moment) but all sorts of other flowers ... charming place.

.. and yes, I was trying to get pictures of the flowers and seedheads when I noticed the spider (2 for the price of 1, as they say) - she didn't seem to mind the publicity.
