That is quite a size! Its good to be able to see the markings underneath. Moths seem so much easier to handle than butterflies - less nervous. Was it active during the day? I don't seem to see anything different in this part of Holland than I would in Britain. I think all moths are beautiful but some of the Soutern European ones are stunners! Great image Guy.

Thanks Goosey, this was certainly a very spectacular moth. It was active during the day, but I think that it had been disturbed because it was looking for places to settle down.

There are probably some moths that you get in Holland which don't live in Britain, and some of the moths which are very rare migrants over here, like the Clifden Nonpareil, should be more abundant in Holland.
