I was wondering if this is the next stage to my Death head Hawk moth, sorry photo's abit blurred.

It could well be. Was it out in the open like that or did you find it buried somewhere? I think most hawmoth caterpillars pupate underground. If it was underground, it may be worth keeping it in a flower pot covered in loose soil (make sure the soil stays slightly damp, but not soaked) and then in the spring it may emerge and we'll know for sure what the moths was

My dog dougal could have dug it up whilst burying his bone as there was freshly dug soil, ı took a few photos and placed it outside the garden as dougal was after it..Hopefully theres a few around so i might get a glance of new found moths in the spring if i am lucky.
