Description: Despite leaving the ragwort to self-seed I have very little this year and most is stunted and eaten almost to the base by slugs. I have seen these caterpillars on dandelion and on creeping cinquefoil - potentilla reptans. Shall watch with interest how they fare.

Description: Following three weeks without rain I left the hose dribbling overnight to revive flagging bog plants. On checking yesterday morning I observed a broad bodied chaser emerging from a pupa. Unfortunately by the time I had raced for my camera it had already fully emerged.
