Do you have a favourite tree?

An individual or a species ....
I was a bit disappointed that J. R. Tolkien's favourite is said to be a SE European pine:

I rather expected a mighty black poplar or maybe a willow ....
I don't know whether that tree inspired any of his writing but a couple of trees nearby, looking rather the worse for wear (they're all over a century old) look as if they might have been inspiration for the ents or Fangorn Forest:

I like weeping willows and pear trees (yum), I have a favorite tree at the local arboretum but I don't have a picture of it, I'm not sure what kind it is, it's old and mostly leafless but it's just got a cool Y-shape and it towers over the other trees.

I think mine has to be ancient oaks - all that history and weather they have survived - remarkable! My favourite tree in the NP is also an oak but no where near ancient - just a lovely tree.
But I think that being up close and touchy feely to a Giant Sequoia must be just amazing!
