Does anyone have any suggestions as to the identity of this lichen. I photographed it in Wales last weekend. It was on a small fallen branch, reminded me of the one I saw on a branch recently in India.
Hi black there are so many of these types of Crustose lichens, so it is really diffiult to narrow them down, but I would take a guess at Lecanora pulicaris? Its a really nice example of what ever it is though .
Thanks Goosey,
I think you're probably right, correct substrate - wood. I took a look at an image of Lecanora pulicaris on UK Lichens looks very similar although there's seemed to have red apothecia - I think this is the correct word. I presume they must simply darken on ageing.
Dr Alan Silverside on WAB used to be a great help but he's not been around of late. By the look of it his website is in the process of being moved to a new host site.
