Snow!

It is snowing here now, first snow of the year. Not very hard at the moment but laying and the salt spreaders have been up the street.
Last year we only had one day of snow and that was 8th February, but three years back we had loads in March, which lasted for three weeks, we were upto our knees in it. The Dutch love snow and take it all in their stride and are usually well prepared.
I saw in a post that today Ericrovve woke up this morning to snow and bird prints (nice picture). Will this be the start of a few months of snow in your part of France?
So how are the rest of you faring?

In South Yorkshire we woke up to light snow which looked as if it would set in but it just faded away and tomorrow is set to be sunny and 'warm'(). To the north of us the snow was said to be in blizzards. It's interesting to know where this snow is coming from - Eric's is presumably down from the Alps but NW Europe ought to be getting it straight from Siberia - so why is it missing most of England but landing in the Netherlands? Are you purloing ours?

It is a sure sign of enhanced climate change that our (current) part of the world was notorious for grinding to a halt every winter and this was one of our reasons for moving here .... yet in the ten or more years that we've lived here we've only had one decent load of snow (sufficient for a toboggan run on the local golf course) and that only lasted one day. It stayed longer up on the moors but really snow has now become as rare here as it was in London (where I had one serious, extended period of snow over twenty years).

Enjoy it while you have it!

Down in Dorset we had a pathetic amount of snow! It started around midday but there were so few flakes, looking out the window I was seeing roughly 1 flake every 5 seconds. Hopefully we'll see a bit more this winter.

No snow here yet either.
It's very cold though, yesterday evening on my way home my ears felt like they had frozen solid!! I can't remember when it was quite as cold as that ....( Luckily they are fine this morning, nice and pink ... just incase you were wondering. )
We never really get any decent snow here though as we live on a peninsular but there were cars in town this morning with snow on them so it can't be far away!

Had about an Inch yesterday. But rained over night so its all melted now. I got stuck in the middle of a heavy snow storm whilst up in the woods.

Negligible snow this winter. Indeed, for most of this month, have had bright sunny days if rather cold nights - down to -8C a day back - but then, you'd expect that up here.

What I wouldn't expect is heavy blizzards in Greece and Turkey: BBC News | EUROPE | Passengers rescued from Greek train
