Greener Grass

What's your typical type of weather and what would like it to be?

Here in the UK it's probably something like 150 days of rain a year, usually cloudy, hot and dry and blue skies for 60 days of the year, snow for a couple of weeks, but not every year.

I'd certainly prefer it if we had a lot more sunny days, and it would be good if the snow could hang around a bit longer in the winter too.

I've met lots of people around the world who have sunshine and warm/hot days nearly 365 days a year and they're desperate for rain, and would love to have seasons with snow and cooler months.

So what's it like where you are, and what would you like it to be?

Snow for a couple of weeks, 2hrs more like down here in Somerset. I am waiting for a winter & have been so for the 15 yrs. We need a few weeks hard frost to kill off some of the bugs. Even on top of the Mendips they hardly know what winter is any more. Personally I prefer a good winter, or should I say, 4 good seasons, we don't seem to have them any more.

Hi All,

Here in Brittany France we get two seasons, winter (Oct to March) and then summer, but this has been a bit wet this year, August was very wet and at one stage in the winter we had a couple of weeks of snow, we were told when we first moved here three years ago that it never snowed, it's snowed every year we have been here, the funny part is that when it snows the French just shut the roads, everything stops. During the summer I have to pump water from the well to water the veggie plot as we can go for a month without rain. (Saves cutting the grass).

My weather station is at http://www.calibordo.com/page12.html

snow for a couple of weeks! a few days more like. but then the weather does vary depending on where you are in the UK.

I think here in the UK we have a nice range of weather, i might like there to be more snow in the winter and nice warm days in the summer and it to be dry on the august bank holiday but there again i can't place orders for what weather I want so i'm happy with whatever the weather brings, if it was a lot dryer our landscape would be much different, I like it as it is.

At least there is enough variation in the weather for us Brit's to talk about it.

Don't tell me about it we came to Brittany this August and crossing the Pont de Normandie ominous great clouds appeared and followed us all the way! I've put a picture in the weather gallery.
The only picture there - surely people have photos of spectacular clouds, rainbows or other weather?
