Where were you when you were in the coldest weather that you've ever been in?

If you live in a tropical climate this obviously might be nowhere near freezing , but if you live in a mountainous region of the world it could many degrees below.

So where and when have you experienced your coldest weather?

I was up in Norway 10 years ago and it was -28C outside.

The coldest time I've been in the UK was in the winter of 1958/9 when it fell to 8F in Bletchley, North Bucks. The coldest I've ever been was in Greenland, in 1967, when it was -15F. Talk about brass monkeys.

The coldest place I ever visited was up the coast past Vancouver, a place called (Schaminus), I think that is how one spells it. I was in the British Merchant Navy in the 1950s and the ship I was on was taking on a deck cargo of timber. I went ashore and visited the local bar, that was a timber shack. When wanting to relieve myself I had to go out to the nearest tree and let it hang out there. The snow was crispy and knee deep. The fluid froze into golden ice as soon as it hit the cold snow.

I'm often out when it is very cold but don't usually have a thermometer with me. coldest i've been is (off the top of my head):

-19°C (no wind) in Sierra de Gredos, Spain in January 2007

however windchill is often a factor to take into consideration, in which case I sometimes carry an Anerometer and been out in -30°C windchill+ in UK
