Snow - Is it true?

I heard on a radio advert this morning that in Sweden there are 36 words for snow, is this true?

Quite possibly, couldn't easily confirm it but if the Sami have over 300 then I expect that we can have 36!

Was it the Sami people which featured in Fozen Planet?

I am going to go off topic now ,

If so, what absolutely hard and incredible lives they live. I could harldy believe what I watching when they showed the dangers the egg collector faced and the risks he took to feed the family.
I watched a fascinating programme once about St Kilder off the coast of Scotland's Outer Hebrides somewhere in the Atlantic. People lived there until the mid 1930's I think (but lived in a way people woild have lived in the 18th century) and men also collected eggs in this manner to survive.
