How deep can they go

More than four miles deep, at least:

Also the Australians scientists are being succesful at great depths.

They have found 274 new species of sealife just south of Tasmania. Their finds include fish, invertebrates and crabspecies. They were found at 3000 metres depth near old vulcano's on the seabed.
They also brought mountains of 500 metres high in the ocean onto the map, in a area that is being compared to the Grand Canyon.
One of the scientists mentioned how strange it is that we know more of the surface of Mars than of our own oceanbeds...
