Seems to have been one good decision not to extend Greenland whaling but no reduction in previously agreed quotas.

It does make you wonder how dependent some of these 'indigenous' people are on whalemeat.

Well, some people seem to be vaguely optimistic but I don't see that there is much room for 'compromise'

What I find difficult to comprehend is that they are happy to wait another year before they will try and come to the mentioned 'package deal' and how they can be optimistic is another great mystery.
I don't suppose anybody knows what the Dutch representative stood for? I've been trying to find out, but with no luck this far. Last I heard she wasn't sure if she was going to give her full support to the anti-whaling campaign or not. That caused a major uproar as she is supposed to be a representation of the Dutch nation of which 90% is for a full ban on whaling. I was just interested to find out if she had in the end decided to totally go for a ban or not, but it doesn't even say on the Dutch anti-whaling orginazation site... |

Don't I recall from an earlier report that all the EU nations voted together?
Why don't they give everyone a vote - apart from three or four countries and some so-called indigenous peoples most people would vote against whaling (or not vote at all). The Japanese might be able to bribe a cluster of Caribbean and other non-whaling governments but they wouldn't have enough money to bribe every individual!
