My Absolut Vision: Protect Whales

In my job, I come across some interesting social campaigns. Here is one that I think most of you might find worthwhile spending two or three of your hard-earned mouse-clicks on.

Absolut (yes the vodka people) are running a global campaign that’s ‘challenging the status quo’ by presenting thought provoking visions of life in “An Absolut World”.

They showcase five 'visions', and whichever is voted for the most, they will make come true mid-2008.

Don’t know about you guys but it took me about 30 seconds and I knew which vision was most important to me: To protect and nurture whales, even if it means protecting them from ourselves.

Believe it or not, yesterday this vision was the LEAST voted for so far.

If anyone wants to chip in their vote, let’s support these majestic creatures http://www.inanabsolutworld.com.au/.

Thanks guys....
Sammy G....

PS: You can also vote to Save the Great Barrier Reef!

Sorry, you need the Adobe Flash player to enjoy an Absolut world.
Okay - Ciao!

Beaked whale

This one is mainly about what people have not discovered about something.
Given how little we know about some species, we should certainly be offering more protection?

You'd call it a farce if it wasn't so tragic:
BBC NEWS | Science & Environment | Japan approves whalemeat import

.. but this is a concise guide to great whales:

This study suggests that whale-watching produces more money than whale-killing:
BBC NEWS | Science & Environment | Whale-watching 'worth billions'
So the economic argument used in Iceland, Norway and other countries doesn't hold water ...
