Photographing the Northern lights

With all the speculation about being able to see the Northern Lights so far south over the last couple of days, and then hearing they may even be seen from parts of the Netherlands, if I am lucky enough to see them how would I actually go about taking photo's?

Special settings, low ISO?

Here's a North American piece - some interesting pictures as well! How to find and photograph Aurora Borealis

I've not seen anything but cloud.
