Equipment you can't live without?

Other than your camera, what's your favourite piece of camera equipment?

Mine is probably the 30" collapsible reflector, which lets me direct a really nice glow of daylight to close-up photos, and therefore not have to make use of harsh flash lighting. Definitely worth the £30 it cost me.

I would say my tripod. I photographed for months before I purchased one. At first I bought a monopod and never used it and it is still unused. I broke the top off my tripod last Monday when I stumbled into a wall, well it was either into the wall or over the cliff edge on a very, very windy day at South Stack in Anglesey. I have since purchased a more sturdy tripod with a 3-way panhead and it's brilliant and so easy to use.

I feel (photographically) naked without a tripod, and rather too conspicuous with one when walking through a town or village. Depending on the terrain, I might take a bean-bag instead - but I generally need to know that I'll find a wall, a gate, a tree or a rock etc to rest it on. A bean-bag on it's own doesn't always give you enough height off the ground, unless you are taking pictures of ground-level things like flowers and fungi.

And whatever support I'm using, a elctronic or other remote release is essential.
