Is this the way to run wildlife conservation areas?
cbs4denver.com - Wildlife Officials Kill Bear In Contact With Human
It looks as if bears are being blamed for approaching humans who attract them with food. Who is to blame? Who gets shot?
Isn't there something to be said for having core conservation areas where humans are not allowed?

It seems pretty unfair really, the bear's just trying to feed. As you say, it would be very useful to try and keep bear conservation areas away from humans for the bears sake!

We had a recent bear visit. We have done everything we can to avoid a repeat visit, but it is we who are guilty of encroachment.

Welcome, dogs of Vermont! Love your blog. Can't imagine a bear in the garden - even though surrounded by woods, it's been a long time since there were bears in Britain

That is good!
I'm actually a bit bummed to see this - it's obvious that we humans are guilty of serious encroachment.

Yes, it doesn't seem to be an isolated incident though ...
