We had a quiet Christmas just one guest, our eldest daughters boyfriend – it was his first English style Christmas and loved the food and excesses of it all!
Now the bad weather, ice and snow has cleared I am itching to get out in to the NP and see what is about and walk off too much chocolate, but tomorrow I have to hit the shops in Haarlem with our youngest daughter – not my idea of fun but she’ll enjoy it!

We to have rain and strong winds forecast for today, the weather was rather mixed in Oct, very cold frosty days, foggy days and a few last week of glorious sunshine.
I am not sure how long fungi spores can survive, but I have heard that some species can lie dormant for years just wait for the perfect conditions so they can grow.
Keep over loading! The winter months here tend to be a bit slow as most of our regular members are from the northern hemisphere and we are all experiencing winter at the same time- our Aussie members seem to have disappeared in a puff of smoke - probably something to do with your puffball!

Hi Ren, I was thinking about you this morning not finding any fungi and it dawned on me what the problem could be. You may have noticed up until very recently Cybershot and I have been complaining about few finds etc, Anyway - things are improving for us both now here up north, I wonder if where you are in France is also behind this year with regards to fungi because of a dry summer and not too much rain sofar this autumn? I think your southern location and longer summer would mean you will be later starting than us anyway.
If so, it could just be a matter of time before it all starts to emerge.
