Hi Arp, can you tell me if it is possible to use Waarneming.nl to see what birds, insects mamals etc have been seen in NPZK or Ijmuiden please. Would I just be able to see what has been included for this area or will I have to look through all submissions for Nederland to find any I want? And where would I find that on the website?

    Hi Goosey,

Never used one, but I think these are generally referred to as "lichtval" (light trap) or "vlinderval". I take it most people roll their own and I'm sure there's ample discussions or how-to's to be found on the net (like here ). One store specializing in Entomology (that I know of) would be Vermandel; their traps are here. I've also found this manual for traps available at stichtingkoekeloere.nl but I didn't readily find the traps on their site.
    Cheers, Arp

Hi Arp - I don't suppose you know what a "moth trap" is called in Dutch or a supplier of them? I don't know any moth groups local to me to ask.

I have come across some dubvious fungi ID's before there, things I have picked up on myself more recently, but in the beginning when I was using it as an ID aid I made some right clangers relying on it when I was starting out with fungi.
No, I don't have an account, I just love to look at the galleries there are some wonderful images there which makes me green with envy!

Hi Goosey, I'm not sure if I should be pleased or worried Anyway - the folks on Nederpix certainly take better photos than I do, but identification is usually not their forté This is of course Oniscus asellus, not Porcellio scaber. Surprised to see that Mark van Veen who commented on the photo didn't notice - he's a very experienced entomologist If you have a Nederpix account feel free to pass the message, I certainly am not going to register just for the purpose. Cheers! Arp
