Have you been enjoying the Giro? I have been watching it with pleasure for the last week. We have been having the outside of the house stripped and painted so I have been in and the days the workmen haven't been its been raining so I have still been in. I am looking forward to the Alp stages just about to start. I was just as tired as Mark Cavendish yesterday by the time he got to the finish line - he is brilliant!
It will be good to showcase the Lake District later in the year with the tour of Britain - I am looking forward to it. Quick - its about to start - get your brew and seated!

No need to go to Leeds then, I see the tour 2014 has a stage finish in Sheffield!

Going through Leeds tomorrow but don't know if I'll go to the start of the Tour the year after next - perhaps try and get a good hilltop view? If they go southward it might come closer to Sheffield?

I had to go to Amsterdam today so went to the Hermitage while I was there. The museum card meant aswell as free entry I could queue jump and just had to scan it . They had an impressionist exhibition I wanted to see, there was some lovley stuff and some gorgeous Rodin sculptures I really had to contain myself not to touch and feel them! There wern't really enough Reniors and Monets though .
It was a bit of luck as the Van Goughs are temporarily being shown there while the VG museum is being renovated. I have seen them before, but its alot of his older darker stuff which I am not so keen on, I went to the VGM years ago it was to see a Pre-Raphaelite exhibition. The best place I have come across for the most fantastic vibrant VG's is at the Kroller Muller museum in the Hoge Veluwe NP, they converted me from not liking his stuff to loving some of it.
Anyway, just to say thanks for the cards, I had a lovely time .

Yes indeed, Don and Dot do a wonderful job of labelling. Fascinating collection - I like euphorbs but they can become overwhelming.
