A few lovely and warm days last week sent everything in to overdrive in the plant world, they must have been trying to play catch-up.
I have just seen my first frogs today but this time last year I had seen lizards and newts aswell.
It's not very nice again now though rather chilly a strong wind and rain, looks like it will last until after the weekend too worse luck.

It is a cert the moth images were taken in Australia - the post was edited after I originally read it and I hadn't realised.

Has spring actually struck your part of the world? We are weeks behind last year with flower growth etc after a very long, cold snowy winter but things seem on the up now.
I haven't seen much moth or insect life sofar.

Hi, I think you are right about the moths being Australian, I have been able to find one for now. Thanks for putting me on the right track - I was just looking at European moths.

    Glad to hear it!
Hope you have been keeping busy in the best possible way, and the insects have been kind to you.
I have had a good mothing summer, plenty of new species, smashed last years total of micro species, and need one more to equal last years macro. This last week things are slowing down alot, so have just had my first attempt at sugaring tonight - sofar nothing except lots of drunk earwigs, but it is windy .
    Good to have you back.

WoopS! I have just realised when I replied to you I did it on my own page so you wouldn't have got it on the 4th May - sorry what a plonker! This was meant for you

"Thanks for the confirmation - it was a new one to me. I am pleased though as I have realised that I have started being able to put moths into family groups even some of the micros which has made looking for ID's a bit easier. A year ago I wouldn't have been able to that.
    Have a nice bank holiday!"

BTW no change in the Pupa yet and its day 9. There have been no more mites so fingers crossed it will emerge safely into a Tortrix!

Hi H, did you see my unidentified Noctuid moth? Duncan thinks it could be a Red Chestnut - what are your thoughts? I wondered about Ashworth's Rustic but I think it is about a month too early.

Thanks for the Epichnopterix plumella ID - I don't think I would have got there! It's funny, from never seeing case-bearers before Sunday I seem to have got my eye in now! I wonder why they have this sort of camouflage when other Lepidoptera don't?And what do they look like before they assemble it all?
