We are leaving England tomorrow, getting the overnight boat from Hull so will be back in good ol' NL on Weds.
Goodness knows though, when I get a chance to start going through my piccies and actually find out what birds I did see over here
.
We had a quick trip down to Leighton moss yesterday and I was pleased to see a Marsh Harrier and a Hobby from a distance - loads of red shank from one of the bay hides which i didn't see last week. There is a single spoonbill hanging around too.
The holiday went much to quickly, today is a day of packing and shopping to take back home so a waste of a day when there is still so much we hadn't got ound to doing.
See you around

Hi Chris, you probably hit the submit button twice.
I can get rid of them for you, but because they will have the same code, it will automatically delete both copies. Not a problem but you will just have to re upload them.

12-04-2012 11:10 AM - permalinkchris butterworthHi. Sorry I've been so tardy in getting back to you ( just noticed the little thingie up in the right hand corner of the screen
). I've been visiting Japan for the last 10 years or so, mainly to do with work, so , yes, you do get a bit blase about earth tremors as small ones seem to be constantly occuring, particularly around the mid-west coastal region of Honshu ( Tokyo area ). It's a bit late but I hope you had a great Easter as well ( not too much choccie
). Hydroid rolls - as far as I'm concerned they are a bit like moths. You either get addicted to them
- or run off, screaming, in the opposite direction
. I'm off to a local site for breeding Black-necked Grebe on Sunday and maybe I'll meet up with Black. It should be a good day whatever happens.

Gosh, I have just seen this reply, honestly I haven't been ignoring you
. Next time if you click on my profile page (or any one else you want to leave a message for) and leave the message I will get a notification I have a message and can get back to you. It take a bit of getting used to but you will
.
It must be really frightening the first time you experience an earth tremor. Do you spend much time in Japan to actually be getting used to them?
I will have a look at that link for you and see if I can add it to your post.
Hope you had a nice Easter, I will have to go and google Hydroid roll now
.
I have been wanting to get out this weekend but the weather was horrid, today I had plans but it was much to windy to go out on my bike - hopefully tomorrow! -
17-03-2012 02:53 PM - permalinkchris butterworthHi Goosey.
Just discovered your visitors messages, but I'm still finding my way around the site
. Earthquakes are two a penny here in Japan so most people don't even notice them ( I'm getting that way myself
). Ever since the big tsunami the other year they put out warnings, just to be on the safe side - but nothing, so far. The link I was trying to post was Dee Estuary Birds - birdwatching, birding and twitching but I think the failure was down to my being useless more than anything else.

Hi again, you said on the spring migration thread you couldn't post a link, what was the problem?
What was the site you were wanting to link, I will have a look if you want.
Shirley -
I have just heard ther has been a Tsunami warning for Japan after an earth quake - I hope all is well where you are? keep us posted if poss on the weather forum
.
