Orangutan Awareness Week

The International Orangutan Awareness Week starts on the 6th of November and aims to raise funds and promote the plight of the orangutan. To help support this week, it would be great if all members could submit lots of information, start new threads and make posts in the forum, post images in the orangutan images in the gallery and build awareness of these incredible animals.

Tell us what's going on in your part of the world, are you running any events in your town, workplace or school.

From the 6th to 12th November, I'll load a big banner onto the front of the site and do all we can to promote the Orangutan Awareness Week around the world. It would be great to have lots of threads setup, ready for new visitors to join in and find out more.

This is a great idea. I love Orangutans and I think it's really sad that they're in so much trouble. When will the world wake up to these things? We lost some dolphins this year and it looks like we'll lose a lot more if we do not do something. Is there going to be an awareness week for dolphins

I know that genetically chimpanzees are most closely related to humans but I always feel more affinity for orangs. Not that I've ever been that closely involved with one but I do feel some empathy ... perhaps it's my hair style?
