Animal rescues

The Karpin Centre in the western Basque country started off as a rescue centre for animals injured (shot, trapped, rta &c) in the locality. Mostly tends to be birds but some large mammals including a couple of bears:
One of which looked very healthy and active:

While the other hardly moved from the entrance gate and just sat twitching its nose:

Otherwise it looked healthy - has it got past the possibility of release, I wonder? A problem in N Spain and the Pyrenees into France is that people rescue bears but when they're released, farmers and hunters shoot them again ....

Can,t have it both ways paul.
Its freedom with danger or captivity without freedom.
Does that make sense?
Best from mike.
