polar bears and global warming
given that polar bears live in areas of the world that being hit hardest by global warming what numbers of polar bears are we losing at the moment? are the numbers of polar bears down a lot over the last 10 or 20 years?

Don't have any figures but there are people who suggest that numbers are increasing - warmer water means more fish! Or it could just be that as ice melts hey're being seen nearer to humans?

I think it's becoming a big problem trying to keep them out of villages anbd towns, which may be giving them a good supply of food

Yes, and not just polar bears. As animals' natural habitat is destroyed then they have to go somewhere else looking for food. They also know that there are easy sources - instead of chasing after prey in the wild they can go and knock over a garbage bin which, in most American towns, will provide a large amount of waste food!
