Caterpillar. What species?

Hi everyone

I have some books on butterflies and their caterpillar stages but I can't find it there. I also have books on owlet moth but there I have no caterpillar stage identification.

4-5mm wide and 4-5cm long.
In Stockholm region of Sweden. In rural, park like area. Found on the pavement actually, 2 weeks ago.

Any idea what this beautiful caterpillar belongs to?

I have come back to this so many times and disregarded one of my first thoughts but have decided that this could well be a larva of The December Moth - Poecilocampa populi .
