what's the deadliest insect

What's the deadliest insect in the world? This could include the insect with the most deadliest bite or sting, and also the ones that spread, the most deadly disease to humans.

Can't disagree with that - people complain about the nuisance of being bitten by skeeters but that's nothing to mortal problems of catching many of the diseases it carries. Second choice, on the same grounds, would be the flea. In the past this was probably the bigger problem?

Another way of looking at it is which insect contains the most dangerous poisons? Burnet moths contain cyanide, and are pretty safe from predators, and there must be thousands of other examples of insects which are very poisonous but only if you try and eat them!
If it were the deadliest invertebrate then I'd be thinking of black widows, scorpions and centipedes, but at the moment I can't think of any insects which give a poisonous bite, can anyone help me out?
Guy
