Day flying moth for identification please.
Hello everyone.
My first thread on this site. I'm having trouble identifying this moth.

It was taken near Agua Amarga in Almeria, Spain, 17th March 2011. Mainly black & white but with orange on the forewing it's about painted lady size, restless, but when it did settle it held it's wings up not flat & open like a magpie moth. Any suggestions please ?
Adios amigos!

Hello and welcome culateron!
What a lovely looking moth - well I think most moths are .
I thought magpie too when I first saw the image but on a bit further investigation I think it is one of the Geometridae, certainly a male with those antennae possibly Eurranthis plummistaria?
Lovely to have you with us and I hope to see you around again .

You can self edit, just click on the word "edit" under your post, change what needs to be changed then click save.
You can also edit your moth image now we seem to have a positive ID for it, see this link
http://www.wildabouttheworld.com/for...ng-images.html
If you want I can do it for you, but it's easy enough - any probs give me a shout .
