What happened to these caterpillars?

I found 2 of these caterpillars (which I think they are from Papilo machaon) in my house wall.
one of them was completly yellow, i touched and it got like this:

the other one was up, and I touched it and it didn't move, but was very soft...

so what is happening to them? will I not see the 2nd one become a cocoon?

I'm afraid this one has split its skin - it is now dead.

The other looks to be pupating - attaching to the wall at one end and shrugging istelf up to become pupa-shaped.

While pupating, the animals are very tender, soft, fragile - it is very easy to damage them so best to avoid touching them at all.
Let us know how the survivor progresses.

so that means that survivor (it would be 2 if i didn't kill the other one ) is ok ? no disease?
I hope my papilion machaon will be soon a cocoon
but as it is very tender and soft, looks like it doesn't move at all, so how will it make a cocoon?
I really hope it is not a disease and it is all about its natural process!
