Unidentified flies
I don't usually attempt Diptera but I saw so many obliging ones a couple of weeks back that I thought I'd give them a whirl. I haven't yet had a chance to look through them seriously so would appreciate any comments. I'm especially intrigued by this one:

Asilidae, robber flies, I assume?

Hi Paul,
Not Asilidae but Empididae for sure, genus Empis even probably but I really shouldn't go there
Typical scene however, female munching away at a nuptial gift caught/prepared for her by the male, who now can take his time doing whatever he's good at
