Hi Robin, I think No4. could be a speckled bush-cricket (Leptophyes punctatissima), haven't a clue about the grasshoppers though!
Welcome to WATW - enjoy the forum. it's lovely to have you with us .

Hi Robin, welcome to the site,
How big was number 1? It looks quite like a Great Green-bush-cricket in shape, these are very big!
2 looks like a female Grey Bush-cricket
3 Maybe a Blue-winged Grasshopper
4 a female Speckled Bush-cricket as the others have said
5 No idea!
I'm know the British grasshoppers and crickets quite well, but there may be some other very similar species in France so these ids may not be quite right.

Thanks for all your help
No 1 had this turquoise sheen about it and wasn't like any Great Green-bush-cricket I have seen before.
Thought 2 may be a Grey Bush-cricket and 5 a Speckled Bush-cricket so that's good.
but without an ID book I'm struggling to do the other two.
Thanks again
Robin

Just to add to the confusion, this was in the paper today: I've never seen a pink orthopteran but some folk say they're not too rare ....
