Its a member of the scarabidae. That may help you narrow it down. Unfortunately ive very little knowledge of India's beetles. Good luck in finding out what it is. The yellow antenna look quite distinctive.

Yes, one of the Scarabaeidae for sure. I would think one of the Rutelinae (shining chafers) but possibly Cetoniinae (flower beetles and other chafers). I've not been able to find a source on Indian chafers but will have another look later. Impressive beast!

I believe it is a indeed a Scarabaeidae, sub-family Scarabaeinae, perhaps even a member of the genus Scarabaeus. Notice the absence of tarsi on legs I...
In other words it is a dung beetle, a close relative of the Sacred Scarab, Scarabaeus sacer.

Howdy,
Maybe have a look at these 4 volumes on archive.org.
Arrow, Gilbert John (1910) Coleoptera: Lamellicornia in The Fauna of India, including Pakistan, Ceylon, Burma and Malaya
4 Volumes, rather erratically named on archive.org:
Seem Part/Vol 2 is present double and 3 is missing
I haven't checked if the PDFs contain this beetle
Cheers, Arp
