I'm pretty sure it's not a 'tarantula' (sub order Orthognatha) and is in fact a 'true' spider (order Labidognatha).
The general characteristics of the spider and particularly the eye pattern suggest the above as well as the lack of chelicerae being seen from this angle. It strikes me as being a male also. I'll have a dig around for any possibles.
I would be interested to know why you thought it was a 'tarantula' though.

To be honest I loosely used the term 'tarantula' as I was unsure at all of what it was. If anything it reminds me of a large wolf spider!
My arachnid knowledge isnt fantastic, but I seem to be really struggling finding any help for S.American inverts and insects. Just seems like nobody bothers lol.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think Large Wolf spider could be the best we'll get for this. There is such a vast amount of species out there, and I can't think offhand of a specific book that would deal with spiders from this area, and the chances are it would not cover all the species if it existed.

It looks vaguely Pisauridae - but to be honest I have no idea!
Hmm a Ctenidae methinks! (after some quick study lol)
