Help with ID this black bug (and also this new Hoverfly)
hello!
today I've found this new Hoverfly! I think this time it is more visible! also the picture is alittle bit better!
Also I found this black bug!
I've never seen it!
does someone knows its name?

Hi Ricky,
Although I'm a total nincompoop with flies, I'm fairly sure the hover will be a female Episyrphus balteatus (Marmalade fly?) - even in Portugal.
For the weevil I wouldn't want to hazard a guess - maybe Paul, H Dogg or others are braver?

I agree for the first - E. balteatus. The second looks OK for a Green Nettle Weevil Phyllobius sp. Many are similar, or a different Genus...Oh, and Arp - it'll probably be stupidity for me, not bravery

Well, the two are often confused - wouldn't want to have to count the medals of honour for actions any person in his right mind would think to be really, really stupid

The weevil is a weevil.  Its going to be pretty hard to take it further from these shots. Could be Phyllobius although carnt quite tell.
