I found this ladybird a couple of weeks ago but am not sure which one it is.
I have come to the conclusion that it may be a 10 spot (even though I can count 12 spots....so confusing ) but would like a bit of help please.

Yes, they are confusing - and very variable In fact, I don't think I've seen this particular version myself yet Nice obvious round red patch taking a bite out of some of the black spots. Still positive it'll be a 10-spot. The pattern on the elytra could possibly maybe have occurred on the 2-spot as well, but it would have had a different pattern on the pronotum.

I think I am beginning to get to grips with some of the id's, as long as they look relatively similar, ( if not exactly the same!) to the examples in photographs.
It was the merging of the spots which had me doubting myself with this one.
