Anyone help with this for a proper name? Seems to have been around for some time already, in spite of the recent cold spell.

Answer my own question:
Gonepteryx rhamni Brimstone
Hibernates as an adult and is a very light sleeper. This is why it is seen very early in the year.

Nice shot, you very rarely get to see their uppersides. Another one to look out for that should be in your area is the Cleopatra - Gonepteryx cleopatra, I think they're early fliers too and the males have a nice bright orange patch on the upperwing. The females are very similar to Brimstones but there is much less of a point on the hind wing.

Yeah I've already seen one of those, but down nearer the coast. Thanks for the proper name. I caught this one fluttering with my new camera which froze the movement. Ganna be great when I've learned it all.
