Urban geology
You can occasionally catch site of the geological strat running below our towns and cities but you can also study minerals and fossils making up the city buildings. These are very well documented for London: http://www.londongeopartnership.org....%20summary.pdf lists some of the literature. Some very interesting rocks used for facing buildings and also for funerary monuments but often interesting things in pavements!
