Nature Canada Preservation Conservation Endangered Species Canada wants any spare cash you have ... I'm sure that we have lots of other suggestions

Hi, this year I have sponsored a pereguine for my partner have made each and everyone of us a member of the R.S.P.B and the family are doing pretty much the same thing. It's much better to give than recieve and this way we all have given so much more this year it's a wonderful feeling. More should do it. Fi. X X X X

I think that is such a good idea Fi.
Some times when you see these adopt or sponser something schemes, especially with some of the larger animals they are so expensive and though you would dearly like to help its totally out of reach.
My daughter had to do a project for school earlier in the year and wrote to a seal sanctuary, with all the info she recieved from them was sponser plans which you could name a seal, then be present when it is released and see it anytime in the convalescing period. This scheme very good and had great intentions and the price obviously included vet care. But I wasn't very popular when I had to tell her we couldn't afford the hundreds of euros it would cost for the months of care a seal would need.
Something like sponser a hedgehog or plant a tree are also lovely and I would love to recieve a present like that knowing some good has come from it.

Hi Goosey, hope you had a good xmas, all our gifts as suspected were of the same ilk I am now the proud 'owner' of a buzzard and have two oak trees (I love oak trees) planted for me. I just feel it is nice to recieve gifts but the gifts that you give back are so much more rewarding and my family all feel the same it gives you a nice fuzzy feeling. Happy new year. Fi. X X X X

Hello Fi, I had a lovely Christmas thank you!
What lovely presents you recieved. So where are your oak trees? Have/will they be planted in existing woodland or is a new native wooded area being planted? It's very worthwhile, especially for those who would love to have trees in their garden but just hasn't the space (like me, I cram my little yard with plants and shrubs and have last years Christmas tree in a pot outside but its on the same is it).
Is your buzzard being cared for with the intention of being released into the wild or is it one that would never survive if it was released do has to be cared for for life?

Yes, trees are the best things - The Woodland Trust - is happy to take your money in various ways. I believe that there's an international organisation (actually, I know there's one but I've forgotten its name) doing similar work - buying up land and planting trees.

These donations for presents are good but it's also good to remember these organisations in your will - you can't take it with you, after all ....

hi Goosey and Paul my oak trees are both part of the Woodland Trust and they are going to let me know where they will be planted, when they are I will go and take pictures and share them. The buzzard unfortunately is in a hawk conservancy center but it's a good one, they do nest boxes for owls etc. I would just like to say I'm very proud of my kids, I just mentioned to them that it would be nice to choose a gift where you can give something back and they did just that.YAY kids not all anti-social, shameful animals. I think trees and reforestation are the best bet for our environment and preserving wildlife. Natural habitat destruction is a major problem for endangered animals. Without the habitat...they are doomed. I think we first need to address Deforestation if we are to help the animals. Please check out our site and reforestation of endangered tree species in Brasil. We can also use your help.
