Teeth for ID

I found these on the bank of the canal. There was no other bones to be seen but this is very fresh and the flies were buzzing around it, and it stank.
The jaw is 22mm and the tooth length is 13mm.
It didn't bother me when I found and handled it (I knew I had antibacterial hand gel in my bag and I had eaten my sarnies ) but looking at the piccies now they make me feel a bit sick .

Back to buisness, does any one know what the teeth belonged to?

I was thinking Muskrat. Seems too big for any of the European rodents. Looking at the length of the teeth they could be from a Vampire Rabbit, I suppose ( I think I've been out in the sun too long )

Do you know, I don't know, I checked and apparantly they are found in all 12 provinces of the Netherlands but there are more in the southern provinces.
I can't see that any have been recorded on waarnming.nl for the NP. I will put the photo on and see if anyone can ID there.

That sounds quite positive you think think the same as Steve.

I will let you know if I get a response.

I have just had an email and they suggest that it is the lower jaw of a rabbit/hare.
Luckily I have still got the skull and top jaw of a hare I found a while back and when I put them together my recent find is much too narrow, so perhaps rabbit? Unless of course this is a youngster and could be a leverit?

Further thoughts please .

They could be from a Rabbit but the dentine looks too orange and the front profile looks a bit too rounded, Rabbit's tend to have 'flatter' teeth. That's what led me towards Muskrat.
