Yay! Finally found some of that elusive winter species:

Velvet Shank

First Mushketeers Foray of the New Year.

A good succesful foray for Xylariacaea, jellys, brackets and resupinates too:


Xylaria polymorpha
Dead Man's Fingers

Alas no sign of Sarcosypha yet.

At last, I bet you were begining to think you wouldn't find any velvet shank, are you many weeks later than last winter with your find?

Your dead man's fingers look like a pile of dog wotsit .

I can't see the images, just WAB saying I don't have permission to view so that will be the same for non WAB members or people like me which hardly logs in anymore. If you can be bothered can you put them into the WAW gallery, if you can't be bothered, don't worry .

Started spotting them first week in December last year I recall.

No problem regards images - I forget that the WAB gallery doesn't reciprocate unless you are a member there too
