There were loads of these on a moss covered sandy bank yesterday. The smaller orange one is Rickenella fibula - Orange Mosscap. What I was wondering is that I think the smaller brown capped fungi with the orange stipe is just an old Orange Mosscap. The larger ones with the dark stipe were around 6cm tall with free attached forked gills.
Do you think it is just coincidence that there are 2 different species here both with the same coloured and striate textured cap, or have I found some very large Orange Mosscaps with stipes that change colour at different times?
