Otidea bufonia and a mystery

I am rather annoyed at myself about this. I didnt take any notice at all of the dart board like mystery fungus with this Otidea bufonia and I did see it at the time, I can't even use the excuse I only realised it was there when I saw it on the computer.

Idea's anyone?

Thanks for thinking , but I don't think it is Tricholoma portentosum. I should have given the size and substrate so It's my fault .
I found it on moss covering very sandy soil, and the little dart board in question was about 1cm across.
I am hopefull the Otidea bufonia will still be there on my next visit, as from past experience I have seen them quite a few weeks after first spotting them. Whether this other fungus will last the duration I don't know.

I think it will be there when you get back I think it is a twig. I have certainly seen the healed up end of certain twigs with a pattern just like this.
I hope I am wrong and it turns out to be something special.

I am so frustrated, it was my first chance to get back today and I was totally out of luck. Since my last visit we have had days of storms and gales, the oak it was a few meters from had shed most of its leaves and I couldn't see the ground for leaves let alone the Otidea bufonia and mystery fungus/twig . I did search but was worried what I was inadvertantly treading on. I will look again next time I pass but I don't hold out much hope.
This feels such a cop-out, I would rather be red faced and admit to the world I was wrong and it was a twig rather than just not knowing .

Good news and bad! It was third time lucky, I went back again and found the Otidea bufonia intact and the mystery fungus which did indeed turn out to be a twig . What a plonker! .

Having given a few identifications that turn out wrong it's good to get one right even if it was just a twig It also saves me posting a photo of a twig I went out and found for you. After all the snow we have had lately twigs could be the only things to identify for a while.
