Me, a fungi recorder!!! -nearly
Well who would have thought it, I have been asked to submit my fungi sightings and photos to the Netherlands nature organisation Natuurmonumenten. (Here is a link which tells what they do We protect nature | Natuurmonumenten ) It is very interesting for me to see thay it's founder was Jac. P. Thijsse, as he has left a wonderful wild garden for the public in our area which I just love and his love of nature continues to this day through others. Another link - sorry http://www.wildabouttheworld.com/for...sse-s-hof.html
It started quite a few weeks back when I bumped into a Natuurmonumenten volunteer, hunting down and making notes of fungi along with another chap who was about to lead a series of fungi walks and talks of which I went on 3. (See posts 5+8 Nature reserve talk )
They were impressed with my enthusiasm and knowledge (I know, I can't believe it either ) and asked if I would be interested in passing on my finds to the official data base. I said yes, but wasn't into crusts, brackets and I tend to ignore alot of brown and white fungi , they didn't seem to mind and would pass on my details to the officialdom.
Today, the Natuurmonumenten got in touch and said its a bit late in the year now but they want me to start in the Spring with Morels and will pass on the data sheets I am to fill in. But for now they want details and locations of my past Morel finds and anything I have on the red data list.
So I feel rather pleased to have been asked - roll on spring and my first Morel !

Well done goosey I am well impressed and glad all your hard work will be put to something worthwhile.
What a lucky chance encounter you had with the 'fungi men' it must have been fate.
But if the fungi recording badge is anything like the WAB badge you may be waiting some considerable time I'm afraid.
You might get a clipboard though.....and a pencil if you're lucky.
Nice work fungirecordingwoman!

Thanks all for your congratulations , and yes I am pleased and yes it is and will be fun .
I don't think I will get a badge but what I will get is a permit so I can wander off the official paths, which will be great - I could do with that now !
I had a nice email back today thanking for my previous 3 years Morel records and photos I had submitted, and for the info on the Helvella spadicea which is on the red data list.

Makes it all that little bit more rewarding as I learned from my experiences with ABFG until cancer took over my life and robbed me of a certain amount of energy and drive compensating for vast changes in lifestyle. I applaud you Shirley and try not to be too envious. Good hunting and loadsaspecies!
David
X for good luck

I haven't to wait until spring now and Morel season, I have been contacted and asked if I can keep an eye out for these
Poronia punctata
Cordyceps
Geoglossum
Trichoglossum
Microglossum
Peziza
The Poronia punctata is on my wish list as I have never seen it anywhere. So I really want to be able to find them so its nose to the ground and pony poo!
But I can already help with Cordyceps, Geoglossum,Trichoglossum and Peziza as I have seen them in 2010 , luckily I know where and have piccies.
