Myxomycetes or fungi?

I am not sure to what these actually are. I found them today on the sawn off end of a tree trunk (probably beech). They were tiny indivually, it was the mass that I noticed. They had very thin black stipes I imagine the creamy ones turn pink with age by the look of it.
Apart from some growing on the wood, some are growing on an existing fruiting body, it could be the same as what is growing lower down - it's hard to tell.

Also growing on the wood was Xylaria hypoxylon, Flammulina velutipes, very immature Chondrostereum purpure (I think, it was the right colour) and what you can see in image 3.

1. 2. 3.

The good news is that it is definitely a Myxo. The bad news - I haven't a clue which one. I have two books coming for Christmas so might just be able to narrow it down but I think these things are a bit like the Mycenas a microscope is a must.

Thanks Mal - I suspected it was Myxomycetes , probably the most interesting I have come across.
So then - what are these books you are hoping Father Christmas will be leaving in your stocking?

As Mycena is one of my interests I was at first looking at Mycena D'Europa but that has now moved from a very expensive £90 to somewhere nearer £135. I already have FOS 3 and Funga Nordica for Mycena so I am getting The myxos of Britain and Ireland by Bruce Ing and A guide to Temperate Myxos sad really but should add another string to the bow.
