I saw 3 of these among the roots of a dug out tree stump 23-10-2009. By 25-10-2009 (see 1st image), the creamy/brown freckled caps had a definite pink tinge with brown gills. Since then more have appeared and once the caps have opened out properly have turned to this dark pinky red.
The largest one today measured 9.3cm across the cap and was 7.7cm tall. The stipe colour also changed, it is white below the white ring and above the ring is brown the same as the the gills. (NB the stipe on very young specimen was white)
I actually found some at this later stage last year (31-10-08) on a steep sandy bank under beech and pine and never manage to ID it, but seeing the early stage has at least got me to a family (I think

).
