Its amazing I go walking the dog looking out for fungi and never find any and this is the second lot I have found in my garden..

Hi Elaine
I am tempted to plug for Trametes versicolor - Turkeytail, but the apparent toothed effect in some of the underside pore areas is confusing the issue for me, though this might just be down to a bit of local morphological erosion revealing the tubes, which can be 4mm long in places. It would be handy to know what others think.
Its habitat is described as: "On dead wood of broadleaved trees (not particularly choosy in my experience), with and without bark, more rarely on conifers. The fungus colonizes chiefly attached or fallen dead branches, trunks and stumps, but it is also a weak parasite (attacking living organisms). Throughout the year. Common."
Cheers
David

Thank you David and to you Jason its nice to be able to put a name to it..
Its a very impressive thing to have in the garden though I think I will leave off the pruning for a while as everything I prune dies..
Hope my grape vine will be OK..
Off to google it now for more info..
Cheers Guys..
